Difference between Pingback vs Trackback in WordPress

pingback vs trackback

Pingback

A Pingback is a type of comment, which is automatically created whenever you link with other blog post. It is simply, when you are linking to another blogger’s post, your Pingback appears in their comment section, just same like other comment would. The author of that blog keeps track of who is linking to their articles.
For example, when an author of site A writes an article/post that links to site B. When site B receives the notification, then it will automatically goes back to site A, to check for its existence, if that link exists, then it will recorded successfully.

Trackback

Trackback is type of peer-to-peer communication system, which sends notification between two web sites via a trackback ping. This enables the author to keep track of who is linking to their posts. Trackback was first released on August 2002 as an open specification.
